Learning outcomes of the curricular unit (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by the students)

A. Know the concept of sport and apply the terminology of sport management.
B. Understand sport from a systemic and organizational perspective.
C. Understand the sport system organization of Portugal in a general and specific (professional area) perspective, as well as relations with international and european organizations.
D. Know the law of sport and apply it in the scope of its professional area.
E. Characterize the organization of sport in Europe and in the world, focusing on european model of sport and the political priorities of the European Union.
F. Analyze indicators of sport situation and identify the sports development factors that allow it to improve, particularly the pillars of ¿Sports Policy Leading to Sport Sucess¿ (SPLISS).
G. Identify key trends in the future of sport.

1. Basic concepts of sport
2. Organization of sport in Portugal from a systemic perspective
3. Sports Legislation and Regulation
4. Sport in the world and European political organization
5. Analysis of the sports situation
6. Sports Development. Determinants of sports development. Sports Policy Leading to Sport Success. Sports funding factor (public, sponsorship, patronage and crowdfunding)
7. The sports situation in Portugal.
8. Future of global sport.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's learning objectives

The following syllabus are coherent and allow to achieve the following objectives::
Syllabus 1 to 8: Objective A.
Syllabus 2: Objective B. and C.
Syllabus 3: Objective D.
Syllabus 4: Objective E.
Syllabus 5, 6 and 7: Objective F.
Syllabus 8: Objective G.

Teaching methodologies (including evaluation)

Interactive exposition of contents, the realization of practical activity sheets in the theoretical practical classes, the discussion in small groups and the research for the preparation and presentation of works.
Approved: a mark of 8 or more in each of the assessment elements and a final mark of no less than 10.
Continuous evaluation
A - Written test x 50%;
B - Work sheets x 25%;
C - Group work x 25%.
Final exam
A - Written test x 50%;
B - Oral evaluation x 50%.
Students who obtain a score of 8 or more in each of the other assessment elements will take the oral exam.
For students in a special regime, the provisions of the Knowledge and Skills Assessment Regulation apply.


Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes

All the objectives of the curricular unit, from A to G, are developed through interactive lecture, class exercises, work sheets, and small group discussions. The learning outcome F will be predominantly achieved through research for the preparation and presentation of works.
