Learning outcomes of the curricular unit (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by the students)

A. Understand the entrepreneurial method, distinguish between effective and adaptive action and recognize the application of its principles and cycles.
B. Apply in an elementary way some of the main methods to explore new business ideas to satisfy market and customer needs.
C. To substantiate a business idea, considering the means available, the principles of effective and adaptive action, the lean startup cycle of validated learning and the customer discovery process.
D. Recognize the main characteristics that make up the concept of entrepreneurship, allowing the construction of prototypes that can be tested with customers and partners, taking into account the available resources.
E. Develop skills of communication, adaptation, leadership and team management skills to immediately start implementing the business idea.

Syllabus

1. Definition of the concept of entrepreneurship and innovation, identification of methodologies associated with the entrepreneurial phenomenon.
2. Entrepreneurial Method: Effective action - cycle and principles of effective action; Adaptive action - lean startup cycle, validated learning and customer discovery process.
3 - Business Model: Definition and constituent elements of the business model - Business model canvas. Identification of the target market with a problem, value proposition, and revenue model, customer cycle and service experience objectives, elements of the service experience: customer relationship channels and processes. Assessment of the potential size of the market.
4. Presentation of the Business Plan: Preparation of presentations, narrative, design and performance, selection and chain of arguments, narrative / dramatic arc, presentation script, multimedia resources and presentation design, verbal and non-verbal resources and performance of the presenter.

Teaching methodologies (including evaluation)

The teaching methods used are the exposition of contents, the realization of exercises, the autonomous work accompanied and the discussion of tasks and ways inherent to an entrepreneurial business project.
Approved: a mark of 8 or more in each of the assessment elements and a final mark of no less than 10.
Continuous evaluation
A - Presentation of the business / pitch concept, as a team X 10%;
B - Project review X 40%;
C - Presentation of the business plan, as a team X 20%;
D - Written test X 30%.
Exam
A - Written test X 40%;
B - Test oral: Project review X 40% + Presentation of the business plan X 20%.
The oral test will be carried out by the student who obtains a result equal to or higher than 8 values in each of the other evaluation elements.
For students in a special regime, the provisions of the Knowledge and Skills Assessment Regulation apply.


Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes

Objectives related to basic knowledge (A and B) are predominantly developed through exposure and autonomous study of students and evaluated through written test and discussion during project reviews. The objectives of integration and application (C, D and E) are predominantly developed through exercises and classroom discussion of tasks related to the project, and evaluated through project reviews and business plan presentations.
