Learning outcomes of the curricular unit (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by the students)

Students must assimilate the importance of psychology in the development and understanding of Sport and Physical Activity, know the history of the Psychology of Sport and Exercise, as well as its nature and organization and main intervention methodologies. 
 study and promote the development of skills of the Monitor / Trainer to increasing the effectiveness of the whole process. 
 analysis of the characteristics of individual practitioners, as well as its impact on sport and vice versa. 
 analyze and understand the role of involvement in its various facets and its impact in practice, in general, and the balance of the practitioner, in particular. 
 Once you know the different elements involved in the process and its influence on sports performance, analyze, finally, the interaction between them and, the proper techniques to maximize each of the foregoing.

Syllabus

Nature of the Psychology of Sport and Exercise: The Sport and Physical Activity as a phenomenon Social and Cultural; Sport Psychology as a science; Nature of Sport Psychology, History and Organization of Sport Psychology, Sport Psychology in Portugal; Organizations sports, Current Trends in Research. 
Coach: The Philosophy of Training, Communication and Leadership. 
Athlete: Individual Differences and Sport, Assessment in Sport Psychology. 
Involvement:Aspects psycho; dynamics of groups, social involvement, physical involvement. Interaction: Psychological Training, Counseling, Mental Training, Goal Setting,Control of Attention and Concentration; Activation Techniques and Self; emotionalprocesses and their regulation.

Teaching methodologies (including evaluation)

In the first phase, students will be introduced to the theoretical concepts underlying the scientific area. In the second phase, they will apply these concepts to develop projects.

Continuous assessment (mandatory 2/3 attendance):

Completion of 7 group projects, demonstrating mastery and innovation in the subjects - (30%)
Completion of a research project - (20%)
One evaluation test (50%)
The final grade will be based on these percentages, with none of the assessment components being graded lower than 7.5 points.

Final exam assessment:
1 evaluation test (40%) covering the material outlined in the curriculum.
1 research project (40%)
1 Oral examination (20%)

Specific arrangements for students in special situations:
These will be individually determined upon request from the students, following the evaluation regulations.


Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes

The program was built on the assumption that initially students should contact the theoretical concepts underlying the scientific area, and that a second phase, the need to mobilize for the development of a job. Should be directed at the Teacher-Student relationship, making positive and dynamic lessons, where students havean active role in their learning process. The slides of all classes, as well as program and abstracts are available on the website of course, before each class. The lectures will have a more expository while in the theoretical and practical lessons that favors the analysis of documents, texts and resolution of chips.
