The course attempts to introduce microeconomic theory, including the behaviour of consumers and firms as well as their choices in the field of production, consumption and pricing. The students should be able to interpret the decision-making at the individual level, of consumers and firms. The use of analysis tools should enable them to understand the market of goods and services mechanisms and functioning in an environment of perfect and imperfect competition.

The division of the syllabus in eight main chapters intends accumulate the fundamentals in the introduction of the study of microeconomics. More specifically, in each of them are supplied to students the knowledge that allow them to achieve the objectives previously established, namely in use of techniques and analysis tools to better understanding the decisions of the economic agents in the context of markets.

Metodologias de ensino e de aprendizagem específicas da unidade curricular articuladas com o modelo pedagógico

The course will primarily consist in the study of concepts and microeconomics instruments of analysis in each chapter jointly with practical exercises. The accomplishment and deliver of individual and practical work is request in a establish date. The strong involvement of students in the resolution of practical exercises allows an interactive and applicative learning, as will be expected.
The assessment will consist of a final written test (85%), accomplishment with a individual work (15%). The written test should have a minimum score of 8 points. Students who do not deliver the individual work will be assessed with 85% of the evaluation obtained in test.


Demonstração da coerência das metodologias de ensino e avaliação com os objetivos de aprendizagem da unidade curricular

The focus on participative learning techniques allows students to apply in practice the theoretical concepts presented during classes. From this premise, it will have a theoretician exposition by the professor about the microeconomics concepts and analysis tools of that chapter. Then, practical exercises of the same chapter are solved, allowing students to understand different concepts and analysis instruments, always with customized accompaniment by the professor.
