Learning outcomes of the curricular unit (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by the students)

- Understand the personal and social development of young, adult and elderly people
- Identify and understand the social phenomena that produce disease and the psychological mechanisms of adaptation to the disease situation
- Understand the importance of groups as a therapeutic resource
- Know the theoretical-conceptual instruments that allow the student to develop a critical and interventional attitude that contributes to the improvement of the provision of nursing care
- Recognize and understand the social dynamics of supply and demand for health care

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's learning objectives

It is intended that students develop knowledge and capacity for analysis and reflection on the dimensions of human development, namely with regard to the young, adult and elderly and the human being as a biopsychosocial system. And, also that they develop knowledge and skills of analysis and reflection of imbalance and adaptation factors and therapeutic resources in the health-disease process. It is also recommended the acquisition of knowledge and skills to analyze the dynamics of supply and demand for health care, as well as stigmatization phenomena, including social exclusion phenomena, mental illness and rituals associated with death.

Teaching methodologies (including evaluation)

Theoretical teaching - Classes in which the expository-interactive method is privileged, using different pedagogical strategies depending on the contents taught, namely reflection on practical situations illustrating what was covered, reading and guided analysis of texts and problem situations, with discussion in the classroom class.
Assessment using a single individual written test (100% of the UC).


Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes

The teaching methodology used promotes in the student the construction of the intended knowledge and skills, given the diversity and interactivity of the strategies used, namely the discussion of problem situations in the classroom. These strategies promote in the student the development of analysis and reflection skills that allow him to understand human development, the psychological mechanisms of imbalance and adaptation in the health-disease process, as well as therapeutic resources in the individual/group interface. These strategies also promote in the student the development of analysis and reflection skills that allow him to understand human development from a social perspective, throughout the life cycle, including aspects related to death, as well as the social strategies of supply and demand for health care. health and phenomena of marginalization / social exclusion.
