Teaching methodologies (including evaluation)

This curricular unit will use the interactive method with expository sessions; reading and analyzing documents in groups with tutorial guidance from the teacher; analysis of situations related to practice, particularly based on clinical cases. In laboratory practices, it is expected to resort to role playing, particularly with regard to the theme of relationship with the person/family with mental disorder. The assessment will be carried out using an individual written test (50%), laboratory practices ( 10%) and the preparation of written group work with presentation at a seminar (40%). In the latter, the classification will be obtained by taking the arithmetic average between the classification of the presentation and that of the written work
The autonomous component of the curricular unit can be carried out through practical exercises that enhance decision-making. Bibliographical research and additional readings suggested by teachers

Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes

 3000 caracteres
The curricular unit's approach is based on the use of interactive exposition sessions, allowing students to participate in their own learning, using the analysis and synthesis of documents, which will contribute to the identification of Major milestones in mental health nursing and psychiatry and to discuss the evolution of concepts of mental health and mental illness, facilitating the student the appropriation of the dimensions of these structuring concepts for nursing care in mental health and psychiatry; at the same time, it provides an enrichment of learning through various documentary sources. On the other hand, they provide an individual reflective analysis, in small groups, in the extended group and with the teacher, which will promote the transferability of knowledge to the specificity of the nurse intervention in the field of mental health nursing.
The analysis of situations related to the practice is a methodology that allows the differentiation of psychopathological changes taking as reference the main psychopathological frameworks integrating them into the care plan, namely from the discussion of clinical cases, as well as the recognition of the main therapeutic approaches developed in the prevention and treatment in mental health promoting the development of capacities for the decision making integrating the ethical-deontological issues and the legal aspects. In the scope of practical laboratory typology, role/role play is used to develop communication skills with the person/family with mental disorder.
In order to promote the development of student learning in this curricular unit, invited lecturers (experts in clinical practice) are required whenever the current and specific nature of the subject demands it.
