Learning outcomes of the curricular unit (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by the students)

Ability to expand the knowledge of the human being as a multidimensional being, by integrating the energy dimension, in a holistic perspective of the same
Ability to ensure the coherence of this therapeutic technique in a context of broader care offering, assessing the cultural diversity and sensitivity of people
Ability to expand the repertoire of clinical skills in nursing, supported by the PBE, in a logic of professional autonomization

Syllabus

Cultural context of reflexology
Reflexology and Nursing: theoretical and disciplinary coherence
Basic principles of anatomy and energy physiology
Types of reflexology - podal and manual
Clinical indications of reflexology
Reflexology massage techniques

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's learning objectives

The program presented contributes to the achievement of the objectives, as it enables students with basic general knowledge related to the human energy dimension, the theoretical basis of reflexology, to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the human being.
This extension of the person's knowledge, as a holistic being, supports a dialogue with human cultural diversity that "shapes" reflexology, promoting in the student the development of skills, fundamental in Nursing care.
The knowledge and training of the various types of reflexology aim at the development of skills to respond to the needs of the person, in a register of professional autonomy.

Teaching methodologies (including evaluation)

Expositive-interactive method. Reading and analysis of texts/articles. Demonstration of reflexological techniques; Interpare training of massage techniques.
The evaluation will be done through: written test, aiming to evaluate essentially the cognitive dimension, with regard to the acquisition of knowledge, and will have a weighting of 40%; Seminar, with the realization of massage techniques, aiming to evaluate the development of situational skills, the ability to communicate adequately the technique in learning, as well as the opening and development of the necessary sensitivity to the learning of the same. This component of the evaluation will be weighted at 60%.
The autonomous component of the curricular unit will be carried out through bibliographical research and complementary readings recommended by the teachers.

Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes

The proposed teaching methodology is coherent with the learning objectives, as it promotes in the student the acquisition of knowledge and skills in reflexology, through the diversity and interactivity of the strategies used, namely:
The expository-interactive method and the reading and analysis of texts / articles and problem situations allow students to acquire basic knowledge of reflexology, contributing to the acquisition of instrumental, cognitive, technological and linguistic skills by researching new concepts and Introduction of specific vocabulary of this therapeutic modality. The analysis and synthesis capacities thus developed allow for the widened knowledge and understanding of the human being, in the various dimensions, through the integration of the energy dimension, thus contributing to the consolidation of the holistic perspective of nursing.
The interpersonal and communicational skills, in a theoretical register of cultural diversity, will be developed through the simulation of reflexological techniques.
The peer-to-peer training, reflexology massage techniques, the development of the capacity to apply knowledge, appealing to decision making and the ability to generate new ideas, will contribute to the acquisition of systemic competences, in a register of learning of disciplinary and professional autonomy.
