Learning outcomes of the curricular unit (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by the students)

1. To understand the importance of family and their different structures in the process of pregnancy, maternity/paternity. 

2. To understand the status of the body during pregnancy/maternity/paternity. 
3. To understand the psychological development of the maternity/paternity. 
4. To analyze situations of psychological risk in pregnancy/maternity leave. 
5. To examine the social construction of pain.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's learning objectives

This UC seeks to develop the understanding of the family and of their dif ferent structures during the process of pregnancy, motherhood and fatherhood. It promotes the development of this understanding, along with the identification of the statute assigned to the body and its transformations over these processes (objectives 1, 2, 3 e 4). The analysis of the social construction of pain by students as well as the development and understanding of risk concomitant processes of psychological parenthood people cared for, compete for reflection on how you can adopt a holistic perspective and progressively developed on the basis of a reflective analytical reasoning (goals 5, 6, 7 e 8).

Teaching methodologies (including evaluation)

The master student is considered as the center of the learning process, developing strategies with expository and participatory orientation. In approaching specific topics, experts may be invited. Tutorial guidance assumes relevance in promoting the master students autonomy throughout the learning process, namely in the development of individual and group reflections, which can be presented in the form of a seminar.
The autonomous work is the time used by the student for research, analysis and preparation of the study of the contents of the UC, taking the decision on self-learning and, which corresponds to the difference between the contact hours (HC) and total hours (HT) provided in UC.
Evalution, mobilizing the themes of Sociology and Psychology, by Individual and Group Critical Analysis with presentation in Seminar, respectively (70% - 30%).


Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes

With a view to an effective understanding of the family and its different structures in the course of pregnancy, motherhood and fatherhood, an analysis of situations of intervention in therapeutic processes is promoted. The aim is to understand the psychological development of the transitional processes of motherhood and fatherhood. The statutes attributed to the body and its transformations throughout its development processes are discussed, as well as the experience of pain and situations of psychological risk during pregnancy and the maternity process, through the mobilization of: Theoretical Classes. Expository sessions using multimedia. Tutorial Guidance - Scientific-pedagogical support in small discussion groups on clinical practice themes, with tutors. Seminar - Plenary discussion on clinical practice situations based on the theoretical-practical articulation developed.
