Learning outcomes of the curricular unit (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by the students)

Develop knowledge about the clinical and health terminology necessary for the performance of functions.

Syllabus

Clinical and health concepts related to:
- Terminology associated with the structures and functions of the human body.
- Complementary diagnostic and therapeutic exams.
- Most frequently developed themes in health.

Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's learning objectives

With the contents explained, it is intended that the student acquires knowledge and develops skills on the clinical and health terminology necessary for the performance of functions.
The acquisition of comprehensive knowledge about clinical terminology, structures and functions of the human body and fundamental knowledge in the semantics of health information, namely about the terminology associated with the structures and functions of the human body, as well as complementary diagnostic and therapeutic tests, they act as facilitators in the autonomous planning and execution of secretarial activities in health institutions and in the development of citizen service activities and health information processing.

Teaching methodologies (including evaluation)

In the curricular unit it is foreseen the use of the interactive method with expository sessions in the systematization of the contents, favoring in the application classes the analysis of practical exercises from cases to facilitate the decision-making process in the resolution of problems related to the practice of health secretariat.
The autonomous component of the curricular unit can be developed through bibliographical research and complementary readings as a support for carrying out exercises that enhance the integration of fundamental concepts for the practice of health secretariat.

Assessment: One moment of individual assessment (frequency) 50% and group work (presentation) 50%. The group work will have two presentation moments: seminar (50%) and role play (50%) based on the exercises carried out and will allow students to systematize the learning to carry out secretarial activities in health institutions.


Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes

The methodologies adopted, centered on the student, will facilitate the development of skills and contribute to the achievement of the proposed objectives. Priority is given to student involvement in solving practical exercises and group discussion, allowing teamwork and the development of relational and communication skills.
The use of role-playing based on learning scenarios is considered to facilitate the acquisition of skills for the development of secretarial activities in health institutions.
