Bearing in mind that the objectives of this course aim to give the student a global view of the project management process, by applying specific techniques and tools, the syllabus will follow the typical course indicated by PMI (Project Management Institute) - editor. PMBoK, a document on which almost all the curricular structure of this unit is based. In all chapters, although not evident in the syllabus, the practical component will be considered as the main way to ensure the apprehension of the skills considered as essential.
As this curricular unit occurs immediately before the internship, it will be sought to prepare the students for the contact with the organizational environment.
Achievement of the objectives in this course will be achieved by conducting a theoretical-practical test on the concepts, techniques and tools of project management and the practical application of concepts that have already been or are being taught in the course.
The trainees will propose the execution of a technical work in the area of the course and will do the whole process from the definition until the end of the project that will lead to the accomplishment of this work.
The processes will take place mostly in the classroom and will be duly monitored by the teacher.
These assessment elements have a weighting of 60% for practical work and 40% for theoretical and practical test.
Learning project management skills is most effective when it is based on the practical application of concepts. However, this application should not be started before ensuring that students master some of the theoretical concepts. This is assuming that they already have skills about the technical work they will manage. Thus, the amount of time devoted to the theoretical and practical components must be appropriately measured. The transmission of theoretical knowledge is done in lectures, when possible showing practical cases, followed by classes of strong practicality.
