Learning outcomes of the curricular unit (knowledge, skills and competences to be developed by the students)

The unit has the major aim to provide scientific and technical information pesticides, classifications, mode of action and side effects.
Knowledge about safe aspects of storage and on work (application); Knowledge about equipment, treatments and application techniques are also considered
Competences on team working
Competences to develop other learning methodologies to find more information

Syllabus

Module I - Introduction. Plant protection and integrated crop management. Concepts. 
Module II - Plant Protection Products and Regulatory Systems
Module III - Safety in the use of plant protection products and risk reduction
Module IV - Application equipment for plant protection products and application techniques
Module V - Preparation to spray and application techniques

Teaching methodologies (including evaluation)

The students` evaluation will be based on classic lectures and on e-learning sessions
Case study sessions and discussion scientific subjects will be based on students
Students must be present at 75% of the contact sessions.
1. Conditions to dismiss the final exam
- one written test (B).
- practical work (A) (report)
- Obtain a minimum grade of 10.0 (ten) in the written test and the practical work.
2. Final Exam (C) written test.

Observations

Teaching methodologies (including evaluation) 

Practical sessions and, at least, 50% of theoretical-practical sessions will be delivered in class mode. 

Theoretical sessions will be delivered in online mode, when the in class mode makes it impossible for the previous priorities. 

Periodical evaluations and exams will be in class. 

Notice: in case of escalation of Covid-19 pandemic in Portugal, there may be: 

1) partial or total substitution of live sessions by online sessions; 

2) periodical evaluations and the exams online.¿
